St Albans Caroline Springs Netball Association
CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT
Every member of our netball community has a responsibility to understand their role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all children and young people in our care.
At SACSNA and Netball Victoria, we are committed to upholding and protecting the rights of children, and to preventing abuse by fostering a culture where children feel safe, supported, and empowered.
We are also dedicated to ensuring the cultural safety of First Nations children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and children with disability. SACSNA agrees to comply with the Child Safety Standards through the Child Safety in Netball Code of Conduct and the Child Safety in Netball Policy.

Our Commitment to a Safe and Positive Netball Community
At SACSNA, we believe that running successful competitions and activities means more than just playing the game. We are committed to:
-
Creating a Netball Safe environment.
-
Contributing to the health and wellbeing of our entire community.
-
Providing fun and enjoyable competitions and activities.
-
Living by our seven core values: inclusion, integrity, health & wellbeing, fun, sportsmanship, teamwork, and development.
The safety and wellbeing of children and young people is especially important to us — and every member of our community has a role to play in making sure this is always upheld.

Child Safe Standards – Community Responsibility
It is important to understand that all organisations providing services to children are required by law to implement the Child Safe Standards. This includes every club and team affiliated with SACSNA.
We all share the responsibility for ensuring children are protected, supported, and safe. To meet these obligations, clubs and teams must follow the steps below and actively uphold the Standards in all aspects of their activities.

Play by the Rules – Child Protection Course
SACSNA requires all club officials — including coaches, umpires, and any other people in positions of authority within your clubs — to complete the free Play by the Rules Child Protection course.
-
The course is interactive, online, and takes about 60 minutes to complete.
-
It is suitable for coaches, administrators, officials, players, parents, and spectators.
-
We highly recommend that Team Managers and parents also complete the course.
Clubs will be required to provide confirmation of completion (including date) for all relevant personnel with their team entries each season.
